Information for Patients - update

We would like to inform you that in result of negotiations conducted between the Supreme Medical Council and the Minister of Health on 16 December 2011 you may be assured that all patients presenting the proof of insurance or filing a relevant declaration will receive prescriptions for reimbursed drugs as per the applicable regulations.

The Ministry of Health sustained the requirement for the patients to present documents entitling them to use reimbursed drug prescriptions. However, where the patient is not in possession of the abovementioned document during the doctor's appointment, the physician may issue a prescription for reimbursed drugs based on a written declaration made by the patient. The LUX MED Group participated in the meeting of the Supreme Medical Council and intends to continue being involved in the negotiations aimed at developing satisfactory solutions that would enable the physicians to perform their duties in a manner guaranteeing the safety of all patients. At the same time, we would like to emphasise that our previous letter concerning this issue was of informative nature and concerned the Poland-wide opinion of medical circles and not the position of the LUX MED Group.

In reference to our previous communications relating to servicing Patients after 1 January 2012, we would like to provide you with further up-to-date information on applying medicine reimbursement, this time in the case of minors.

The law stipulates that every citizen of Poland under eighteen years of age shall be entitled to reimbursement, regardless of the insurance. Nevertheless, the current regulations oblige physicians to determine whether a reimbursed prescription is issued to a person entitled as a consequence of that principle or as a result of insurance registration. Therefore, parents of underage Patients are requested to provide documents confirming that their child is insured or, if they are unable to present relevant documents at the time, to submit an appropriate statement if the child is a Polish citizen.

At the same time, we are obliged to ask you to remind Employees covered by medical care that, in accordance with information provided to us by the Minister of Health, those who submit false statements shall be held liable for their content.

We assure you that Patients of LUX MED Group receive prescriptions for reimbursed medicines in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health. Issuing a prescription for reimbursed medicines for a child who is a Polish citizen does not depend on whether the child is insured, and the insurance documents only provide the information necessary to issue that prescription.
